With the rise of China in the21st century, all heads are turned toward the country. Therefore, with China’s growing international prowess and the emergence of the so-called "Chinese fever", going for the’Chinese dream’has become very attractive.Recently, Korea has also deepened its concern for the Chinese. The Chinese language has now become one of the compulsory courses in the Korean higher education. We first explored the beginner’s course textbook"BANDI&LUNI’S"(from the Seoul library) and discovered that there are a large number of Chinese introductory textbooks in the Korean textbook market. At the same time, Chinese version and Korean versions of the introductory Chinese language course textbooks have huge differences. This study aims to do a comparative analysis on the Chinese and Korean versions of beginner’s Chinese textbooks. The commonly used textbooks "Conversational Chinese301Sentences"《汉语会话301句》and the "Chinese language Life"《生活汉语》used by the junior high school students in Korea have been chosen as the subjects of comparison. The topics, layout, grammar, vocabulary, culture and exercises are the six main elements used as basis of comparison."Chinese Language Life"《生活汉语》offers the junior high school students a very relaxed but is rich in content textbook. Its contents are able to accommodate a livelier class. It also doesn’t lack in the cultural context and at the same time it is very interesting and informative. However,"Conversational Chinese301Sentences"《汉语会话301句》is specially m-ade for the Chinese learners with zero-background on the Chinese language. The textbook’s goals are clear, the grammar explanations and syntax are also very rich, and it has very rich vocabulary, thereby making it more technical and difficult for the students. Therefore, after analysing both textbooks, this study has explored its disadvantages and advantages along with its similarities and differences. This study offers recommendations and some references which aim to help the future writers of textbooks.
