The board of trustees is the basic model of management in American privateuniversities. No matter in the status, the authority or the function of the university board oftrustees, the system in our country is far behind America, though it has been imported fora long time. It is not, some of the university board of trustees in our country has alreadyexisted in name only, because the university board of trustees in our country can’t functionwell. Among the problems of the university board of trustees existed in our country, mostof them are caused by the university board of trustees themselves. These problems are allfor the lack of internal management, what is also an awareness of managing themselves.In other words, there are some certain problems in the university board of trustees inmanagement consciousness, which pays more attention to university management and paysno attention to managing themselves. As with the gradual globalism of higher education,the university board of trustees in our country should take the chance of reform in thehigher education management system, transform management consciousness, strengthenthe internal management awareness, make internal management goals clearer, formself-evaluation management mechanism, take internal management reconstructionseriously, establish internal management system and then improve internal managementefficiency to promote the board of trustees’ work efficiency and ability enhancement, makethe board of trustees boost the universities’ development and motivate the reform of highereducation management system.This article include five chapters. In Chapter1, the reasons, meaning, presentstuding situations, literature reviews, thoughts, methods and innovation points of thisarticle are expressed. Chapter2is the summary of the university board of trustees. Thischapter explains the connotation of the university board of trustees in detail, defines andassesses the internal management of the university board of trustees and minutely limns thein America. And aims at the present situation of the university board of trustees. In theuniversity board of trustees, no matter in the legal status, orientation, function or the construction of the university board of trustees, there are many problems existed in it..At the same time, from subjectivity and impersonality two angle to analyse the reason ofuniversity board of trustees in China. Based on the running conditions of the universityboard of trustees in our country, Chapter3focuses the analysis on the internalmanagement current situation of the university board of trustees and the problems existedin management. Compared with the internal management in the private university board oftrustees in America, the university board of trustees in our country not merely establish thewhole set of internal management system or regulations, but it is also lack of managementconsciousness and the goal of internal management. And seen from the internal runningconditions, the university board of trustees in our country is short of internal managementrules, regulations and system of inner examing and assessment. Chapter4takes the boardof trustees of Duke University in America for example and analyses the current situation ofthe internal management of the private university board of trustees in America Accordingto the current situation of internal management of the university board of trustees in ourcountry, some relevant strategies about constructing the internal management model of theuniversity board of trustees in our country are put forward.
