With the all-round development of China’s socio-economic and cultural system,reform has become an inevitable trend. The reform process will inevitably do damageto some groups. Rectifying the private teachers in rural areas has become a key part ofthe reform process of the educational system during the transition period. Theappearance of private teachers is the need of the times. In the process of privateteachers’ rectification, collective actions are endless to protect their rights. Thisspecial group comes into the public’s vision again. Because of social sympathy andmedia attention, the pure question has turned into a focus gradually. Collective actionmade by private teacher groups who are considered as “the people on the systemedge” implies the existence of social contradictions. This essay focuses the casehappening in S County, Liaoning Province. After making diachronic overalldescription of the entire collective action, the essay tries to explore the qualities ofcollective action as “the people on the system edge ".This essay is divided into four chapters. Introduction is the first chapter whichdescribes the question’s background and the significance of the research. It sorts outthe literatures in this essay and introduces the data collection process and analysismethods. It also makes a detailed explanation about the related concept. The secondchapter analyzes the background of S County private teacher’s collective action andthe present situation of the private teachers in Liaoning Province. The privateteacher’s collective action happens under the background of our country’s reform ineducation. The third chapter analyzes the state of no action before the collectiveactions starts. The forth chapter gives a detail description to the private teachers’collective action in S County and makes an analysis on the process of the collectiveaction. The fifth chapter involves the development and the influence of the collectiveaction.Finally, it makes a conclusion that the sense of deprivation induced the actions.At the same time, due to the transition reform and resources for survival deprived, thequalities of the process are aimed at "procedural fairness". The logic of "institutional edge" is the logic of survival rational protest.
