"Indirect Benefits" Lead To The Study Of Mechanisms For Collective Action

With the continuous accumulation of social contradiction and the rapid development of the network in recent years, collective action resulted from "non-direct interest" presents the characteristics of number increasing, expanded scale and impact, and complicated reasons. Collective action resulted from "non-direct interest" has become one of the main manifestations of social conflict. The research of its reasons, mechanism, characteristics and the resulting impact can not only enrich the "non direct interest conflict" and collective action theory, but also provide feasible suggestions for the government to handle related events properly which helps maintain social harmony and stability.Combined with the theory of social conflict, the relative deprivation theory, and the theory of development, this thesis takes the 16 th of May event of Linshui in 2015 as an example to research the collective action resulted from "non-direct interest" and to define the concept of collective action and "non-direct interest conflict". It concludes that: the main causes of the collective action resulted from "non-direct interest" include years of accumulated relative deprivation, lack of credibility of the government falls into the trap of Tacitus, failure about the expressing methods of conventional appeals, lack of government experience and ability, and lack of the legal consciousness of few public. Then, this thesis sums up the principal mechanism of the collective action caused by "non direct interest”. It consists of: fundamental contradictions of "non-direct interest" caused by collective action, the possibility of unconventional channels and collective action, rational calculation of potential participants, upgrade or terminate of collective action, the increase or decline of governmental credibility. In the end, the solution to the collective action resulted from "non-direct interest" is to try to reach a consensus on the development of the government and the masses, improve the credibility of the government, reduce the masses "sense of relative deprivation". To achieve this goal,set up the correct development view, the fair allocation of resources, perfect and smooth channels of participation, improve the ability to cope with, strengthen the construction of the rule of law.
