The Sixth census indicated that population aged60in China has reached178millionpeople, accounting for13.26%of the total population. With the fast development of thesociety, traditional family changes into central family. The social actor of the old man werelost, bad relationship with the children, these reasons are hard for the old to keep a goodemotion. As the old man living in welfare home, they were locked in some place, the socialrelations are not as much as before. So we should not only give them a good livingcondition, but also focus the spiritual consolation.From the perspective of social work and the relevant theories of sociology, theauthor make use of questionnaire method and case interview, set Suzhou Social welfarehome as a case, analyzing the mechanism of the elderly mental health problems and mentaldemand, and then in accordance with the "emotional intervention, self-awareness,interpersonal and organization to adapt to the welfare home" four dimensions of the elderlymental health problems in social work intervention. The author also probes into the socialwork method of the innovation points and deficiencies, and the problems related to thereflection and discussion.
