Study On The Social Work Intervention Into The Spiritual Needs Of The Older Adults Who Lost Their Only Child

“Older adults who lost their only child ” refers to the“special groups” who has responded to the “One-Child”policy,but later lost their only child,and now aged above 50.These groups of older adults have made a great contribution to the effective control the population in China,but they have to face the objective reality of the sudden death of their only child in the middle or old age.They have withstood all kinds of depression,loneliness,depression,irritability,paranoia in spirit,and the extreme pain of cutting one's body,so in their old age,the emotional crisis caused by lack of affection need to be solved urgently.Although the state and the local government both have introduced relevant helping policies,however,simply relying on government subsidies,foreign material condolences can not meet the inner needs of the old adults.So,how should let the older adults as such have the same mental states with the ordinary elderly? How to resolve their mental crisis? How to help them to get rid of the plight and meet their spiritual needs? To solve these problems,it is very necessary to introduce the professional social work method.This paper takes“older adults who lost their only child”in A community in Shapingba district of Chongqing city as the research object,through household visits and questionnaire survey to understand the spiritual needs of the older adults,based on the reference of domestic and foreign literature,adopts the research method of social work intervention and aims at putting forward countermeasure feasibility for spiritual needs of the older adults who lost their only child,making the older adults forget the sorrow and throw away the worries behind,introducing the social workers into the groups of the older adults to carry out the case services,psychological counseling,and mental comfort for them,and providing professional spiritual needs service for them to face the new life.At present,for the correlational researched on the spiritual needs of older adults who lost their only child are mainly based on the models of pure case and pure group.This paper is mainly through the unified questionnaire of 11 older adults who lost their only child in A community,and has sorted out the current status of the spiritual needs of older adults through the interpersonal relationship,social willingness,community participation and social well-being these four dimensions.Secondly,the author conducts the practical analysis by selecting one case of the 11 cases of older adults who lost their only child as a typical case to find out the way to solve the problem of the spiritual needs of older adults.Finally,apply and promote the study experience of selected case to other 10 cases of older adults who lost their only child to solve the problem successfully by using the model of the group--a case-group model,meanwhile,let the social workers involved in the groups of the older adults to help them to participate in various community activities,interactive,and face the active and healthy life,to explore the problems of the older adults case in the short time,and to solve theproblem of spiritual needs of the older adults in the community.In this way,it not only greatly shorten the working time,but also improve work efficiency.Also plays a role in restoring older adults who lost their only child,which has laid a solid foundation for the stable development of society.
