In recent years, as the late marriage group is gradually growing in our society, itsunderlying cause and social influence are drawing more and more attention. In thisresearch, document analysis, questionnaires and interview method are integrated adoptedin the development of Parenting Style Scale and Mate Preference Scale. And throughoutthe research, a total of881participates are chosen in Nanjing, Suzhou, Macau, Liuzhouand Beijing randomly. Among them211are to be tested by questionnaires containingParenting Style Scale and Mate Preference Scale for the development of the two scales;670are tested by the formal questionnaires in order to learn current situation of thesepeople’s life and seek out the inner relationships between the three factors, and thus buildthe model of the three factors. At last, on basis of the two researches above,25participatesare interviewed for a deeper exploration of the reasons why the group stay unmarried at anolder age. The result shows that:(1) The self-developing Parenting Style Scale contains two sub-scales, FatherParenting Style Sub-scale and Mother Parenting Style Sub-scale. Both have threedivisions;(2) The self-developing Mate Preference Scale contains three divisions, physicalcondition, social condition and psychological condition;(3) Parenting style, gender role and mate preference have significantly positivecorrelation;(4) Background of late marriage group has a significant impact on mate preference;(5) Parenting style and gender role can directly predict mate preference, and parentingstyle and can directly predict gender role;(6)Gender role mediates the relation between parenting style and gender role;(7)The reason why unmarried group stay unmarried at an old age lies in theunmatchment of exterior factors and the dynamic model of parenting style, gender role andmate preference. Analysis and discussion were made on the basis of these above outcomes, andsuggestions were offered for practical teaching and future research.
