Confronted with a growing threat caused by issues on ecological environment, we have to reflect our behaviors and struggle to find out solutions. Therefore, one of the most effective methods of promoting such awareness is to educate pupils about ecological and environmental awareness. The elementary period is the key step and optimal step for children to cultivate cognition, behavior and habit. The outlook on world, outlook on life, outlook on value, behavior and habit developed during this period exert a great influence on the future life, study, and work. That is to say, the significance of developing ecological and environmental awareness from childhood lies in attaining the most ecological and environmental benefit through the least ecological and environmental costs. It seems to be extraordinarily important. Therefore, it is necessary for schools to start the education on ecological environment from the elementary stage.In China, the current method of ecological environment education mainly adopts penetrating mode. Penetrating mode means every course takes responsibility of ecological environment education. Among all courses, Chinese class is an instrumental and humanistic course. It not only educates students’ writing and reading skills, but also develops students’ emotion, attitude, and outlook on value. Therefore, through the arrangements of Chinese class in elementary school, the education on students’ ecological and environmental awareness gains extraordinary advantages over others. The standard of elementary Chinese class, the concept of this class, the content of the teaching materials, and the cognitive characters of pupil altogether provide a guarantee for ecological environment to penetrate and carry out. Therefore, this paper focuses on the discussion the current situation, existing problems, feasibility and relevant solutions to the ecological environment education in the elementary Chinese class syllabus.Although the features of elementary Chinese class and the features of pupils’ cognition both prove the feasibility of penetrating and carrying out ecological environment education, the current situation of implementation into the elementary Chinese class teaching of ecological environment education in China is not going well. After interviewing and researching, the author finds out that the current ecological environment education in China is still limited by traditional evaluation system of education, the teachers’ and students’ quality of ecological environment, and the sole teaching method. This paper provides some relevant solutions and strategies. Therefore, teachers can take part in trainings before or amid teaching career, in order to improve personal knowledge of ecological environment, skill, awareness, and attitude. They can also adopt different teaching methods according to different situations, such as question-oriented teaching method, activity-oriented teaching method, value-elaborating teaching method, and role-play teaching method. Therefore, the benefits of ecological environment education can be significantly improves.
