The Mate Selection Preference Of Contemporary Youth And Analysis Of The Equivalence Of Love Resources

Objects1.This study was aimed to discuss mate preferences and get the weight of all kinds of love resources.2. Discuss love resources impact on relationship quality and research the relationship between the equivalence of gender of total resources and relationship quality.Methods One of the research adopts normalization method to get the weight of12kinds of love resources. Another research used the scale of relationship quality index for unmarried people and view of love questionnaire to investigate203pairs of lovers. The statistical methods include Person correlation analysis, Independent sample T test and multiple regression analysis.Results1.In the difference test of12kinds of resources in sexual mate selection preferences, Except personality and mental health, it had significant sexual difference with other love resources(p<0.001).2.Man’s weight of resources factor is responsibility=0.0949, health=0.0935, mental health=0.0928, ability=0.0904, personality=0.0883, Income=0.0851, sexual health=0.0832, education=0.0783, occupation=0.0765, family background=0.0726, figure=0.0724, appearance=0.0720. Female’s weight of resources factor is health0.0953, mental health=0.0944, responsibility=0.0914, personality=0.0906, sexual health=0.0876, appearance=0.0842, figure=0.0839, ability=0.0797, occupation=0.0745, Income=0.0740, education=0.0737, family background=0.0708.3.There has no significant correlation in the differ amount of total resources in lovers and men’s relationship quality (p>0.05),but there has significant negative correlation in the differ amount of total resources in lovers and female’s relationship quality (p<0.05).4. Four times regression analysis showed, male responsibility, sexual function, education and ability can be used to predict the men’s relationship quality, four resources can explained33.8%variance in men’s relationship quality score; Male responsibility, personality, health and appearance can be used to predict the women’s relationship quality, four resources can explained54.9%variance in women’s relationship quality score; Female responsibility, character, ability, income and appearance can be used to predict the men’s relationship quality, five resources can explained39.5%variance in men’s relationship quality score; Women’s responsibility, mental health, personality, education and health can be used to predict the women’s relationship quality, five resources can explained43.3%variance in women’s relationship quality score.Conclusion1.There are significant gender differences in mate selection preference of contemporary unmarried youth;2. The stronger the equivalence in lover’s resources is, the higher women’s relationship quality is;3.The male sexual health, responsibility, education, and female responsibility, personality, ability, income, appearance has an important influence on men’s relationship quality; Male responsibility, personality, mental health, appearance and female responsibility, mental health, personality, education, health has an important influence on women’s relationship quality.
