Medieval history (AC476-AC1500), covering from the western Romanempire to exploration of the new sea-lane, is an important part of the worldhistory. The history contains not only the emergence and development ofmain modern western countries, authoritarian rule the Roman church, churchand state of the western European feudal manor, the development ofeconomy, the rise of western European cities, elegant of religious art, butalso the Crusades and Hundred Years’ War, including Japanese Taika reform,the spread of the Arab empire and Arab culture, the development anddestruction of the Byzantine empire, and the rise of Russia, etc.Now both in high school curriculum and high school history textbooks,the part is rarely talked about, while this has violated the chronologicalcharacteristics of history and the "ancient and modern, well versed in,Chinese and foreign combined" principle stipulated in Curriculum standard.Besides, it makes it difficult to relate the content in Senior Middle Schoolwith that of in the junior middle school. Therefore, it is very necessary tointroduce this part into the curriculum.Based on medieval history, combined with high school historycurriculum standard as well as versions of textbooks presented in theintroduction of the choice of teaching materials on the history of the MiddleAges, the selection and layout of which are discussed in this paper. Theauthor will put forward relevant suggestions about teaching and evaluationso as to improve the teaching and learning.
