Study On Teaching Method Of "Comprehensive Sense Of Music" For Junior High Schools In China

The teaching method named “Comprehensive Sense of Music” is a complex musicteaching system that leads to the better emotional sympathy and aesthetic appreciation ofstudents. This method emphasizes the ways of experiencing the music, expressing the musicand perceiving the music through learning it. Thus as a participator, appreciator as well as acreator, the student is able to deeply comprehend the relationship between the individualcomponents of the whole piece of music, which would motivate him or her to share andcommunicate more with others. Such improvement in the understanding of music, equippedwith more participation in the practical field study of music, will definitely enable the studentto acquire a comprehensive notion of music ever, and in the meantime, achieve the balanceddevelopment of the personal ability.This paper is based on the systematic analysis of the “Comprehensive Sense ofMusic”teaching method proposed by educators from the US, and illustrates the significanceof implementing this teaching method in China with the specific example of the MiddleSchool Affiliated to Yantai University. Consequently, inspired by the American educators, weput forward a basic framework of a teaching method of music both with the conceptof”Comprehensive Sense of Music” and the special intention for junior high school studentsof China. The paper is comprised of the following parts: presenting the principles of theteaching method of “Comprehensive Sense of Music”, exploring the standards and ways toevaluate the teaching quality, delving into the intercommunity and connectivity betweenmusicology and other arts and humanities subjects, and finally, assessing the feasibility anduniversality of this new method by case study, questionnaire research and experimentalteaching applied with it.
