Cultivation of mathematics application consciousness and ability of social practice hasbeen in the process of mathematics learning relatively weak for junior middle school students.Under the current education, how to create a good learning environment for the students,which can arouse their consciousness of mathematics application, improve their ability tosolve actual problems in mathematics as a tool has become the urgently problem which needsto be solved by first-line math educators.The middle school mathematics modeling teaching is useful to arouse the students’mathematics application consciousness, cultivate their ability which can analyze and solveproblems, improve the ability of the association and imagination, cultivate the keen insight,and also has very important significance to comprehensively promote the middle schoolmathematics quality education. Thus, permeate the ideas of mathematical modeling in middleschool mathematics teaching is necessary, which can be beneficial to the all-rounddevelopment of students’ ability.The main research work of this paper can be summarized as follows:1. By using questionnaire, interviewing and testing methods, the understanding situationsof students and teachers for mathematical modeling are investigated in the fourth grade in ajunior middle school and an senior high school in the local area. The reasons of weak instudents’ thinking of mathematical modeling are analyzed from the two aspects of studentsand teachers, respectively.2. Aiming at the students of the fourth grade in a junior middle school, the teachingstrategies are studied for the penetrating mathematics modeling idea in mathematicsclassroom and put forward the principle of infiltration. The practical strategies are discussedby the two aspects of students and teachers.3. Taking two teaching modes as examples, i.e., self-study-discussion-based andactivity-participation, some practices are carried out in mathematics classroom. The secondinvestigation and testing to students are launched after the teaching practice. Comparing thechange of students before and after the training on mathematical modeling, the skills ofstudents are investigated in using simple mathematical modeling method to solve worldproblems. 4. Finally, some teaching suggestions are put forward, then the limitations of this study andthe problems need to be further solved in the future are found out.
