In the past few years, functional strength training theory has already arousedmany specialists’ attention and interest. However, studies concerning functionalstrength training are still in their primary phase, where few studies have beenconducted on basketball players. Therefore, the author intends to firstly give anoverall introduction of the definition of functional strength training as well as itstheoretical foundation. And then through reference to numerous relevant literature andinterviews on experienced basketball coaches, the author decides to focus onjump-shooting skills in basketball players’ training, hoping to find the scientific causalrelationship between functional strength training and the hitting accuracy ofjump-shooting.On the basis of the fundamental principles of functional strength training, theauthor designs an experiment on the basketball players’ jump-shooting skills withreference to questionnaire on experts, intending to verify the effect of functionalstrength training on the hitting accuracy of jump-shooting. The procedure of thewhole experiment is as follows. All the participants are randomly divided into theexperimental group and the control group,9in each group. Functional strengthtraining were continuously conducted on the experimental group for8weeks whileduring the same period of time traditional strength training were carried out on thecontrol group. At the end of the experiment, the author compared the hitting accuracyof five-point-jump-shooting and cross-drift-jump-shooting of the experimental groupand the control group from both horizontal and vertical angles, thus justifying thevirtual effect of functional strength training. As shown from the experiment, bothfunctional strength training and traditional training can help improve the hittingaccuracy of five-point-jump-shooting, and the former does not show significantadvantages over the latter. As for cross-drift-jump-shooting, both functional strengthtraining and traditional training have positive effects on the improvement of thehitting accuracy; moreover, functional strength training also shows significantadvantages over traditional training, proving that functional training is more targetedand comprehensive. At the same time, the results show that there exists a seriousproblem in traditional training in that it lays too much emphasis on the improvementof quantity, lacking attention to quality. Where traditional training is problematic, functional strength training shows its great advantages and effects. The results from the experiment of this thesis can also be applied to the trainingof basketball players’ other skills. It can also be combined with other sports items training. The author firmly believes that as long as functional strength training isextensively adopted in China’s athletes’ training, the competitiveness and level ofChina’s sports will surely be greatly improved.
