This article focuses on portfolio assessment and development in the middle school art classroom, an exploration of classroom case studies, and methods oh how to expand the practice of specific activities in the classroom. This thesis elaborates on five aspects:portfolio theory, relevant reviews, portfolio assessment, research involving portfolio assessment at the secondary school level, and an analysis of experimental results. The third chapter is the main focus of this article, which contains clear examples of the process of how portfolio assessment is implemented, including a background of portfolio assessment; learning objectives; instructional design and the evaluation of instructional design; and effective classroom teaching results. This article also points out that, through practice, portfolio assessment highlights development and that evaluation is geared not only toward a student’s creativity, but also their comprehensive ability. This article’s closing consists of reflection, a summary of preliminary results regarding research, and a summary of primary and secondary portfolio research carried out to provide both a solid theoretical and practical basis.
