In recent years, mathematical modeling teaching becomes a hot topic in theeducation sector at home and abroad. The mathematical modeling, in general, is tomake use of mathematical concepts, formulas, definitions, theorems, rules, systems,etc. to solve real life problems. Mathematical model, characterized as accurate,intuitive, simple, is normally presented through mathematical language, symbols,numerical relationship or graphs. Mathematical modeling is to create a mathematicalmodel for the whole process of solving practical problems, making use ofmathematical language and methods, through abstraction and simplification to getan approximate portray of the practical problems. The thinking of mathematicalmodel is to make use of the mathematical language to describe the real world, that is,to get mathematics out of the world of mathematics, bridging mathematics and thereal world. The thought of the mathematical modeling, if using in the PrimaryMathematics Teaching, can cultivate the application awareness and sense ofinnovation of the students and to improve students ability to solve practicalproblems. New compulsory education curriculum standard has proposed themathematical modeling for several times, and emphasized the importance of it. Itcan thus be seen, the idea of mathematical modeling is indispensable in the PrimaryMathematics Teaching.In this paper, based on the basis of knowledge, and established on theclassroom teaching, studies the function of the mathematical model thinking inPrimary Mathematics Teaching, as well as how to penetrate this idea into the PrimaryMathematics Teaching. With the help of “tree planting problems "and" countingwalls "teaching cases, the paper tries to merge the mathematical model of thinkingwith the teaching of elementary school mathematics.This study aims to enrich the teaching theory of mathematical modeling, makefrontline teachers to understand and grasp the meaning of mathematical model ofthinking, and to provide specific teaching suggestions. Primary Mathematics Teachingcombined with mathematical modeling is in line with modern concepts of education, adapting the direction of social development. In our day-to-day teaching ofmathematics, we should integrate the mathematics textbook knowledge to cultivatethe modeling thinking in the various aspects of teaching, making studentsconsciously apply mathematics knowledge and method to observe, analyze and solvepractical problems, actively building their own cognitive structure, converting themfrom knowledge-absolving to capacity-oriented. That is how we make contributionsto the promotion of education quality.
