As the development of our country’s new curriculum reform of biology in seniorhigh school, the implementation of the new curriculum has been paid more and moreattention. The implementation of the curriculum is a key step in the reform. Throughthe investigation of how the curriculum has been implemented, we can find out theproblems existing in the implementation and do some adjustments immediately. Thenew curriculum of Biology in senior high has been started in Chongqing fromSeptember,2010. Two years passed, are there any changes in the senior high Biologyclasses? What kind of problems are still there? In order to have a clear knowledge ofimplementation situation in the schools of the central downtown in Chongqing, thewriter did an investigation among the teachers and students.Guided by the fresh ideas of the new curriculum and related to the relevanttheories of curriculum implementation, this study adopts the questionnaire method,interviewing method, etc.113biology teachers and1734students were chosen to beinvestigated by a stratified random sampling to get to know the implementationsituation of senior high’s new biology curriculum in the downtown schools ofChongqing.Some problems have been found out as follows through the investigation: neweducational notions have not been diverted; the way of instruction is out of date;students’ way of learning is as old as before; experiment classes have not been paidenough attention; the approach of experiment teaching is simplified; teachers lack ofsome general knowledge; the means of teaching evaluation is simplistic; the structureof the textbooks have not been arranged appropriately; etc.This thesis propose the following approaches to these problems:(1)a safeguardmechanism of implementation should be built up to guarantee a fluent implementationof the new curriculum;(2)teachers should divert their own educational ideas on the sixrespects: curriculum, students, learning style, teaching procedures, teaching strategies and teaching evaluation;(3)different teaching approaches are advocated to becombined in the class and teachers should give an emphasis on the teaching processand the transition of students’ learning style;(4)experiment teaching calls for moreinvestment to ensure the fully-equipped facilities and experiment teaching approachesshould be improved to promote an enquiry-based way;(5)a new method of assessmentshould be established to facilitate students’ development in an all-around way and toencourage teachers’ self-development;(6)new curriculum training course for teachersshould be arranged and should be given in a fresh way to promote teachers’development; the exchange of experience between teachers from different schoolsshould be enhanced to get a teaching reflection and teaching and research throughinternet should be developed;(7)teachers should make use of the textbooks moreappropriately by studying carefully the textbooks, making learners’ analysis andincorporating different kinds of curriculum resources.
