With the building of the first private college or university in China in1980c, private college or university has experienced over30years, and counselors of private college or university constitute an important part in both the teaching and the administrative team. Their dual role as teachers and cadres makes them become the backbone of the higher schools’ ideological and political work. At the same time, they are the organizers, executors and instructors of higher schools’ routine ideological and political education and administration. And they are a communication bridge among colleges or universities with faculties and students; They must be responsible for many duties, such as, recruiting students of private college or university, students’ performances, the education of students’ mental health, the education of students ’security, the education of morality and so forth. Their importance and duties are almost the same as other stations teachers, but many problems, such as the counselor’s status is lower, the treatment is worse, the stressfulness of work is higher, the chance of development and promotion is fewer in comparison, result in the rate of instability of counselors in private college or university higher than other stations. It is not only bad for the sustained and health development of private colleges or universities, but also is a waste of resource. Thus it holds significant theoretical and practical meanings that we should reinforce the stability of counselor team in private colleges or universities.The study is used mainly document, questionnaire survey and interview. Through questionnaire respectively for counselors and students of Y college in Yunnan province, we can feel counselor’s experience and learn their mind from the different point of view of students and counselors. Then through the interview with counselors of Y college, I can more profoundly understand their grievances, and find the reasons of instability of private college or university in recent years. At last, I want to offer proposals and measures via literatures and successful experiences from domestic public colleges and universities, and integrate into the theories of management.The paper is consist of seven parts. The first part is the introduction. It describes the backgrounds, the objectives and the related theories. It defines the concepts, presents the study at China and abroad, and sums up the significance of this research as well as innovations. The second part simply introduces the general developing situation of private colleges or universities and counselors of private colleges or universities. The third part analyses the importance of sharpening stability of counselors team in private colleges or universities. The fourth part takes students and teachers from Y college as survey and research objects, analyses the current situation of counselors in private colleges or universities. The fifth part, according to the result of the fourth part, analyses the the reasons of counselors team in private colleges or universities. The sixth part dissects the causes of counselors team in private colleges or universities and comes up with recommendations by connecting advanced and successful experiences with modern management theory. The last part is a conclusion and a brief summary of this paper.
