Curriculum leadership is a new research field in china and abroad. At present, the curriculum reform in elementary education implement the system of the three levels’curriculum regulation, to give national, local, school courses assessment respectively, the principals, as the most direct leader have a certain amount of resources and responsibilities, have the task and duty in leading the curriculum development in schools in China. From a general perspective, our study of curriculum leadership, particularly with regard to curriculum leadership of principals is in its infancy, can not meet the practical needs of the new curriculum reform. Relatively speaking, the study of school curriculum leadership theory is very rich in U.S., and in the practice of curriculum leadership change, the U.S. schools also have a lot of experience. Thus, this paper focuses on the research of changing for curriculum leadership role in U.S. primary and secondary schools. First, the author analyzes the background for the changing of principals’role in American schools and then analyzes the theory of curriculum leadership and its impact on the changing of the U.S. school principals. And then analyzes the concrete implementation of two principals in U.S. school, explore the path of changing of principals’role in the curriculum management and a general analyzes the difficulties faced by the salient features in the U. S. toward curriculum leadership for the principals generally, finally, in line with the principle of reference, in the actual investigation, based on the status quo of China’s primary and secondary schools curriculum leadership, give the suggestions on the changement of principals’curriculum leadership role in China, with the view to provide references to the implementation of the principals’curriculum leadership in China.
