Reform and opening up more than30years, with the development of China’s socialist marketeconomic, corporate culture is springing up all over China. Especially in the state-ownedenterprises, as the backbone of China’s economic, the construction of corporate culture could evenbe said extraordinarily bustling. However, bustle does not mean prosperity. The content and focusof this paper is to collate and summarize the current state of cultural development of thecontemporary state-owned enterprises in China, to make clear the significance of state-ownedenterprises’ culture for the development of contemporary Chinese society, and then to raise somereflection on the construction of state-owned enterprises’ culture. The innovation and highlight of this paper is to aim at the problems and shortcomings in thecultural construction of the contemporary state-owned enterprises, such as politicalization, formalization, separation from management, applying mechanically, lack of personality. With thecomparison to Japan on political system, stage and level of development, historical and culturaltraditions, national quality, there is the revelation: in the cultural construction of state-ownedenterprises, we should attache great importance to the traditional culture, inherit the traditionalessence, learn from foreign advanced management ideas and theories to meet the diverse needs ofsocial development, follow the development trend and value characteristics and personality itself,so as to build the corporate culture with Chinese characteristics. In this process, the state-owned enterprises must be aware of the mission and responsibilities.Because good corporate culture is huge intangible assets for the staff, the enterprise, thenationality and even the country. As Marx pointed out that a free and comprehensive developmentof each person is the ultimate goal of social development, so that we can say corporate culturemeans a person’s self-attribution, potential to exert, value to achieve, it is not only the corporateculture, management cultural, economic cultural, but also a way of life.
