Ningbo is a famous port city in Chinese history, which is on the coast of the East Sea. TheQing government signed Treaty of Nanking in1842with Britain which decided to open Ningbo’sport as a commercial port. And on January1,1844Ningbo opened to the outside world officially,From then on, trade in Ningbo’s Port entered a new stage of development which was full of twistsand turns. This thesis takes Ningbo’s port trade from1844to1949as the research object, thechange of hinterland as the center and taking the time as the main line, it reveals the true reasoneffecting the development of the trade in modern Ningbo’s Port is the size of Hinterland and thelevel of Hinterland’s economy, thus gets a reference and inspiration by investigating the context ofthe development of modern Ningbo’s Port trade.
