The engineering project management under EPC mode has an extremely important significance for the realization of the project’s overall objectives. From the beginning of the decision-making stage of the project, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the project design, procurement and construction, commissioning, each point of the schedule management should be attached importance which is closely related to the project initiation or tender, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operation.The EPC project of the Palembang power plant in Indonesia by Chengda Company is as for case of the paper. It is analyzed for the EPC project with the tools and technology of the CPM method of the schedule management. The implement measure and suggestion are pointed out for the subsistent problems of the project schedule management, and management method in the stage of the PDCA circle, studying the advanced tools of schedule management and changing thinking idea.The paper is divided mainly into five parts. The first chapter is the introduction part involving mainly the significance of effective schedule management of the EPC project, the research status in the schedule management theoretic, the design of the paper and so on. The second chapter describes the basic characteristic of the schedule management under EPC mode and basic requirement of the construction schedule management. It describes in details the CPM method with its application in the project management and dynamic characteristic by means with schedule management in effect. The third chapter describes brief the application of the schedule management in the Chengda’s project. It is including the framework of the schedule management design, the job program of the schedule management, and the measure how to guarantee the schedule of the project. The fourth chapter is based on the Chengda project describing the keystone and difficulty of the schedule management of the engineering project and existent problems easily in EPC mode, and puts forward the suggestion for solving the problem. The last chapter concludes suggestion and experience for improving the schedule management level through practice.It is proved that the practices of the schedule management system of the EPC project helped the company, built and perfect the schedule management system and realizes the intergradations of the company strategy and schedule management through the EPC project practice in the schedule management...
