“Food is the paramount necessity of the people, and grain is thesource of food”. Grain is the most basic and the most necessarymaterial goods on which the people live. Not only is food related to thepeople’s livelihood, but also relates to economic security and politicalstability. Therefore, food problem has become the major strategicissue. Food security is concerned with the world peace and stability,and is the necessary managing affairs, the foundation of economicdevelopment and the guarantee for independent security.Facing the current complex world food situation, the foresight to thesituation of world grain production, trade and the geographic patternsmake an important contribution to promotion of the nationalunderstanding for the food security, which can further understandChinese food security, strengthen the state grain reserves, increasefood production and arrange grain crop production and trade.This paper is divided into five sections. The first chapter isIntroduction part, which mainly elaborates research background,significance and purpose, domestic and oversea research situation aswell as the research ideas. In the second chapter, the paper briefly summarizes the basicconcepts of food and food safety, the agricultural economic thinkingthat occurs at all times and in all over the world and relatedagriculture layout.Chapter 3 chiefly researches current food production situation inthe world and analyses its geographic patterns by means ofsoftware the ArcGIS after elaborating grain production influencedby sowing area and yield, the agricultural material technology,agricultural prices, natural disasters and influencing factors ofagricultural policy.In the Fourth chapter, in the same way, the paper is researchedfactors that influence the world food trade and researches tradesituation,and finally concludes food trade geographic patterns.Chapter 5 points out challenges the food security faces and putsforward the countermeasures by expounding population, cultivatedland, food production consumption status in China based onresearches above.In short, food security must be the first concern under anycircumstances.
