Research Of Cultivated Land Change In Rapid Urbanization Regions In Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

The cultivated land resource is one of the most precious of human naturalresources, and is also the material base of the survival and development of humansociety. The sustainable utilization and development of cultivated land resources isthe fundamental guarantee of realizing sustainable development of China. However,both of the urbanization construction and agricultural production activities requirelarge amounts of arable land as a guarantee. In the period of rapid urbanization, thecultivated land decreased drastically in number and declined rapidly in quality, andfood security became the focus of attention. It also brought unprecedented challengesto the protection of farmland. Meanwhile, Xining City is in rapid development phaseof the urbanization process. The correct understanding and dealing with thecontradiction between urbanization process and cultivated land resources have animportant theoretical and practical significance on achieving the objective ofsustainable development.Based on the study on the change of cultivated land use in time, space and degree,as well as combined Adjustment of agricultural structure and ecological andenvironmental protection in the city of Xining, the article analyze driving factors ofincrease and decrease of cultivated land and gives suggestion on rational development,use, and protection of cultivated land resources. Because of limited amount ofcultivated land resources, we should exploit the existing potential of cultivated landresources and add cultivated land resources values by scientific and technologicalprogress to improve the use efficiency of cultivated land resources, achievesustainable development of agriculture as well as continue to increase the protectionof cultivated land.Conclusions:(1) The stage characteristic is obvious in terms of the cultivatedland change. From2000to2008, the cultivated land reduce drastically, thendecreased slowly, and finally showed a flatten trend.(2) The regional characteristic isobvious in terms of cultivated land change. In terms of the rate of change and regionaldifferences, Center City, where is with the fastest urbanization process and the mostdramatic changes, is significantly different from Datong County, Huangzhong County and Huangyuan County.(3) Cultivated land change is influenced by a variety offactors. These driving factors are composed of policy, economy and demographic.And policy is the main driving factor.
