With the rapid development of global software outsourcing industry, the study of software outsourcing is gradually increasing. In the literature, scholars the most concerned about are: What factors affect the software outsourcing project success, and how these factors affect the success of the project. Large number of studies on the success of software outsourcing project lack of a clear conceptual framework. In addition, scholars largely study from the customer’s view, very little research on the success of the project from the supplier’s view. Based on the above, this paper attempts to build software outsourcing project success conceptual framework and validate it from view of customers and suppliers.Firstly, we begin our narrative review by providing a brief overview of major software outsourcing project success in the IS literature. We classify software outsourcing projects through a combination of qualitative analysis and theory, and build structural model of the software outsourcing project success. Subsequently, we conduct a quantitative review of the literature using meta-analytic techniques for software outsourcing projects. Finally, the paper conduct path analysis and the overall fit of the structural model by combined with the Meta-analysis and structural equation modeling.Based on46studies, we conducted a narrative review, found that the software outsourcing project success consists of three parts:(i)Antecedents-evaluation of the project development process, including knowledge learning and service quality;(ii) intermediate variables-the evaluation of the project, including project performance (subjective evaluation) and mental performance (objective evaluation);(iii) Outcome variables-the assessment of the organization impact, including organizational performance and relationship quality. the intermediate variables (project performance and mental performance)partially mediate the relationships between the antecedent variables (knowledge of learning and quality of service) and the outcome variable (organizational performance and relationship quality). In a word, based on the narrative review and meta-analysis review, we proposed and demonstrated the structural model of the software outsourcing projects success. Secondly, because the adoption of a newly method of MESEM and the lack of relevant literature, paper results may have certain deviations. Finally, combining the contextual factors of software outsourcing project success the paper proposed situation model, which could point out the direction for future research.
