The original port has appeared since thousands of years ago. The world marine industry developed gradually during the lengthy age of the feudalistic society and the trend of the coastline portization was not remarkable. However, with the occurrence and development of the neoteric and modern industrial revolution, the trend of economic globalization became more notable, and the scale of international trade expanded rapidly. The world port industry developed fast as well during this period, in turn more and more natural coastlines were constructed to ports. This trend had been abated since coastline portization reached a certain level along with the economic development of various states. Even though various non-economic factors are also very vital to the coastline portization, we believe that the effect of the economic factors is more outstanding than the former. The driving force of the long-term development of ports depends on the force of economy, and the improvement of the coastline portization is linked to the level of economy closely.Container transport, as a means of transport, which developed very fast, has been proved to be very advantageous by many living examples. One of those is that the trades of bulk cargo were increasingly replaced by those of container. In this paper, we shall first focus on the law of the coastline portization of container ports. Through the analysis of the land use of the container ports at home and abroad, we can educe the criterion of the land use of the container ports refer to their throughputs. By researching the national economies and the development relations of three cities in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, we can obtain the developing trend of the container terminals of Dalian port in the future. Finally, we shall use the method of compounding prediction with a series of prediction models to predict the container throughputs of Dalian port in the future, and considering the previous land use criterion of container ports, we can calculate the length of the container terminal of Dalian port in the future.
