Nowadays, our process of new industrialization and urbanization continue toincrease fast, optimizing industrial structure and transforming the method ofeconomic development have become the urgent task to keep the economicdevelopment healthy and rapid. The industrial structure determines the function of theeconomic system, and restricts the circulation of the entire national economy, so itsadjustment is the essential requirement of economic growth. The changes of industrialstructure has its own rules, which is determined by the speed of development of theindustry, but, ultimately, the different speed of development of the industry isdetermined by the total market demand. The total market demand includes consumerdemand, investment demand and net export demand. Investment demand is caused byconsumer demand, and volatile and vulnerable to the external environment, so it cannot be continued momentum of economic growth; The impact of net exports oneconomic growth is small, and it is used directly for consumption abroad; Consumerdemand is the largest contribution to economic growth, and less susceptible to theinfluence of the external environment, so it has a lasting role in boosting the economy. The adjustment of industrial structure have to adapt consumption structure, productoversupply and shortage of real life are two uncoordinated performance. We shouldactively adjust the industrial structure by adjusting the consumer demand structure.According to the theories that changes of the residents’ consumption structure havean effect upon industrial structure, first, we describe the mechanism of interaction ofthem in detail, and their relationship in production-oriented economy andconsumer-oriented economy. Second, we make descriptive analysis of the status quo residents’ consumption structure and the status quo of industrial structure, revealingthe trajectory of their change in practice. Then with consumer data of1995-2009, wehave an empirical study using the AIDS model, and make a detailed analysis ofconsumption of various consumer items using indicator of the expenditure elasticity. Finally, based on input-output tables, we analyze quantificationally influence of theconsumption structure on the industrial structure using the influence coefficient, thesensitivity coefficient and so on.Though the analysis, the thesis gets the following conclusions: our residents’consumption structure and industrial structure are optimized, urban and ruralresidents began to pursue higher quality of life, and attach great importance to thespirit of the consumer. The proportion of three industries is more reasonable, withinthe industry structure has changed a lot, and the secondary industry have moreleading role to other industry; The corresponding departments of larger inducedcoefficient of urban and rural residents are closely related with people’s daily lives, but production induced coefficient of rural residents of computer services andsoftware industry and the financial sector are significantly lower than that of urbanresidents; Consumer industry structure and industry structure induced by consumer isdifferent, which fully demonstrates that the influence of changes of residents’consumption structure on industrial structure has being joint and long-termcoordination.
