The Research Of Sustainable Urban Development Of Wuling Mountain Area In Hubei Province

The urbanization of Wuling Mountain’s city is about to enter a stage of acceleration. The sustainable development of cities are related to the Wuling mountainous area of social and economic development. Mountainous area of sustainable urban development study is significant.Therefore, the study of the sustainable development of cities in Wuling mountainous area have a significant meaning.The sustainable development of cities emphasis on the system and indexes of urban sustainable development. In this paper, Theory of Sustainable Development is used for guidance. The aspects about the process of urbanization, urban functions and the urban system are mainly studied.Study the development of the Wuling mountainous cities from the dimensions of time and space and with the methods of GIS and mathematical analysis, we come to the following conclusions:The process of urbanization of Wuling mountain cities in Hubei is that urbanization rate is low. The urbanization is about to enter the acceleration stage; the scale of the urban population is expanding and the population is mainly from the transformation of the rural population. Urban population is within the range of population capacity, but beyond the optimum population range. The scale of city economies is small but growing rapidly. The structure of urban industry is uncoordinated. The second industry of the city is relatively small; the development of tertiary industry grew faster. The use of urban lands are high-efficiency, but newly increased land mainly used for construction and residence; the supply of urban land can’t keep up with economic growth.The system of Wuling mountain cities in Hubei:the space of Wuling Mountain Areas urban development is small; the cities are distributed near the river. Land resources are less available for urban development in the future. The accessibility of the southern cities are lower; city size is generally small. The distribution of Wuling mountainous urban are a "Z" font, the center of the city is located in the regional central, mainly small and medium-sized cities; three levels of urban systems and the scales are formed and strengthened.Cities functions are began to diversify; the radius of the city’s attractiveness is small. The southwestern cities’attractive are overlap and strong; the coordination of industries are poor among cities and the gap of the urban and rural is decreases each other. The urban infrastructures are low,"urban diseases" are gradually obvious.
