Study On The Competitiveness Of China’s Agricultural Research Insttute

China is a large agriculturalcountry. Agriculture is the basic of China’s industrial structure. Sincereform and opening-up, the agricultural economy has made tremendous development which mainlyrelies on the great progress of agricultural science and technology. As the main driving force foragricultural science and technology, agricultural research institutions play an important role inpromoting agricultural development and rural progress. Unfortunately, there are some problemsrestricting the development of Chinese agricultural research institutes, such as reasonless utilization ofresearch funding, noneffective integration of resources, the lack of scientific monitoring and evaluationmechanism, all these lead to the lack of momentum and pressure in research institutes. Therefore, anevaluation ofthe scientific research competitiveness of China’s agricultural scientific research institutesseems ofgreat importance.The article first details the background and frameworkof the research, then, afterreviewing theories andprevious researches, an ideal evaluation model of research competitiveness of agricultural researchinstitutes is established through Delphi method. To simplify the algorithm and insure accuracy of theresults, methods likeanalytical hierarchy process and data envelopment analysis have been used jointlyto evaluate scientific researchcompetitiveness.Further analysis has been focused on the comprehensivestrength, efficiency, international cooperation, technology transfer and promotion, using quantitativeanalysis through the34institutes of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.The study concludes that the ideal evaluation model constructed in this study is scientific andrational.Through empirical analysis, digging into the problems restricting the development of China’sagricultural research institute, the thesis makes several proposals: establish scientific and rationalevaluation mechanisms; enhance international cooperation; focus on solving practical problems.
