With China’s rapid economic development, China’s manufacturing industry is alsoshowing a good development prospects. However, the real situation of most manufacturing ishigh-intensity work and low productivity and to some extent, In general, enhancing theproduction efficiency means investing additional equipment, expanding the plant site andincreasing personnel, but it is a difficult and unrealistic way for the companies facing thedepletion of financial resources. Thus, how to enhance production efficiency with no or lessinvestment is the problem that many SMEs need to solve. The GW Corporation is a privatejoint-stock SME originating from a bankrupt state-owned enterprise. The GW Corporationobtains the trademark of a place name and faces fierce competition and tremendousenvironmental changes. After updating the concept, strengthening management, buildingmarket power, the corporation started on the right track. With the improvement of corporatereputation and market share, the problem of low productivity emerge, the unsmoothproduction process limits the enterprises’ development. How to make the production capacitykeep up with the pace of market expansion without more investment? In this context, thestudy researches how to enhance the company’s plant productivity through the diagnosis ofsome aspects involved in the production.In the basis of scientific management and work-related theory, the paper investigates theactual situation of GW’s Workshop through field visits and interviews with workers, analyzesthe GW’s workshop production processes, workshop layout and work rate.Study found that, GW’s workshop production process is not smooth, there are a lot ofwaiting, transfer and other activities that do not create value, there are a large number ofroundabout processing routes. The survey of work rate showed that the workers’ actualworking hours is not enough. There many reasons resulting in the low efficiency. Mainly, theirrational layout of the production line led to the extension of material transfer, Worker’s lowenthusiasm for the production also affects its efficiency.Through diagnostic study of GW, this study suggests that the company should improveproductivity through the following aspects: adjust the production process and processing ofplant lines to cancel or merge out some procedure; adjust the placement of some equipment toreduce the distance between process; strengthen spot management and create a cleanerworking environment to reduce the time spending on finding and movement of materials;strengthen human resources management, design more effective employee incentive program,enhance the employee’s enthusiasm for work, thereby increase the productivity of the entire plant.
