A Research On The Foreign Trade Of Changbai Korean Autonomous County

Changbai Korean Autonomous County which located in the southeast border of Jilin Province, facing with Liangjiangdao City of North Korea on the Yalu River upstream, is the only one korean autonomous county of China. Its foreign trade is an important part of its economy.This paper analyses the foreign trade of Changbai Korean Autonomous County with qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, based on international trade theory. Our purpose is to find out the advantages and disadvantages and put forward suggestions of the foreign trade in Changbai County.Then we find out that its advantage plays a very important role on the foreign trade in Changbai County. It has a good location advantage because it is located in the bank of the Yalu River facing with North Korea. And it also has favorable conditions on history and cultural environment contrasted with other regions. In addition, there are advantages on the resources complementary with North Korea and the policy support.This paper analyses Changbai County’s development status of its trade scale, structure, foreign trade enterprise and trade policy affects. Then we find out that there are some problems on its foreign trade by compared with the foreign trade of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Counties. The problems are the low level of its foreign trade port and traffic construction, small scale and imbalance trade structure of the foreign trade, small scale and weak strength of the enterprise, and obviously affected by policy.In order to solve these problems, this paper put forward some suggestions on the foreign trade of Changbai Korean Autonomous County. They are strengthening port infrastructure construction, expanding the scale and optimizing the structure of foreign trade, improving the foreign trade enterprise, strengthening the relevant policy support, attention for the development of border trade, and driving regional cooperation by transnational tourism.
