The port is a window of China’s opening-up. The trade has played an important role between China and neighboring countries.Yanbian area bound by coastal border area of Russia to the east, and separated by Tumen River with Xianjing Beidao and Liangjiangdao of the North Korea to the South. At present, there are five counties (Hunchun, TuMen, Helong, Longjing and Antu), which be approved open to the outside a total of12channels.Followed the national policy, the port economy has developed gradually in Yanbian, and plays an important role for area’s economy. In the world of international economic globalization background, the northeast Asia will become the world economy industry of the transfer of the important areas. In2009, the state council approved "the Tumen river cooperative development plan for China-in the opening lead long achish development area", this is an opportunity for the Tumen river area development, and is also an important opportunity for Yanbian’s economic development.There is a historical opportunity for the port economy in Yanbian area, but the port construction still has a lot of problems, mainly including:Promoting the economic basis relatively weak, and low extroverted degree of economy, foreign trade product structure is a single; No seaport, port radiation radius is limited; Frontier bridges need repairing in urgent; Port facilities do not conform to the standards; Port utilization rate is not high; Port service system and the function is not perfect, the specialized level is not high.The paper analyze the Yanbian port economic situation carefully, and learn experience from other domestic regions in the development of port economic.
