Study On Employment Effect Of Technological Progress In China

According to scholars at home and abroad, the problem of on the role of technological progress for employment(employment effects) has not reached the same conclusions. In china there are mainly four perspectives in the following:(1) Technological progress to promote increase in the amount of employment;(2) Technological advances had little effect on employment;(3) Technological advances will reduce total employment;(4) In the short term technological progress hinds employment growth, but in the long term it will increase the amount of employment.Clearing technological advances impact on total employment, finding out the cause of this effect, formulating reasonable and appropriate technology development strategy for the employment policies, while avoiding disadvantages and use of technological progress to increase employment and achieve win-win, which has an important theoretical and practical significance to China’s future social and economic development.In the paper, on the basis of the positive and negative correlation theory on between technological progress and employment and previous research findings, according to China’s actual situation and the object of study to establish the measurement model—Time series model. Detailed analysis of technological progress is no longer two effects on the employment of their size, but with the empirical analysis to examine the whole30years in China1980-2009periods the total amount of technological progress on the employment impact. Under the different backgrounds (such as the different systems, economic cycles and other factors), according to time (every10years is a part) comparative analysis of technological progress on employment the different effects in China.Finally, when we match the empirical results with China’s realities, we can conclude as follows:The affect of progress in technology to employment—As for the different researching backgrounds (different economical, institution or other environments) is also different:①1980-2009, in this30-year period, progress in technology mainly undermines employment situation in a short period, but it will promote the employment situation after that;②From1989to1999, technological progress affect the employment on the positive side;③From2000to2009, technological advancement affects employment on the negative side. So the employment effects by technological progress varies in different circumstances, but mainly on the positive side. Then corresponding policies and recommendations should be made on that bases.
