Employment is vital to people’s livelihood, but also the most prominent issues in today’s society, as well as ways and basic premise to improve people life. With the development of science and technology, all over the world began to set off a wave of technical and economic, and it had increased the contribution rate of economic growth, however, with the wide use of modern technology, it also had a great effect on employment. Technological progress is to increase the employment or to reduce the employment, domestic and foreign scholars have different point of view. The employment situation is not optimistic at present in Tianjin, As a result, the in-depth and systematic analysis of Tianjin about technology progress to total employment, the influence of industrial employment structure and employment structure of industry, it also can promote Tianjin employment and economic development that has great important practical significance.Firstly, this article defined the concepts of employment and technological progress, categorized and summarized related theory and research topic on the impact of technology on employment both at home and abroad, presented the main innovation and research methods, and put forward the deficiencies.Second, analyzed from two aspects, such as total employment and the employment structure, and used the method of normative analysis to explore the mechanism about the effects of technological advances in Tianjin to the employment, it not only included damage effect mechanism and the compensation effect mechanism, but also included the impact of technological progress of industries and industry employment mechanism.Once again, on basis of analyzing the situation of technological progress and employment in Tianjin, estimated the total and the three industries rate of technological progress. Using Eviews5.0software, by adopting the method of cointegration, Granger,error correction method to analysis the impact of technological progress to total employment in Tianjin, and established corresponding regression model respectively.Finally, identified the technology progress path in Tianjin,and then using relevant methods of econometrics to choose suitable technological progress route that can promote employment of Tianjin. According to the situation of technological progress,the empirical analysis as well as suitable technological progress route, from the government, enterprise, education and industry structure to make the corresponding policy suggestions which could promote the technology and employment to expand in Tianjin.
