The fact that minerals are not regenerative resources is presented and the theorythat their sustainable development needs to be explored is expounded in thispaper. At the beginning, the properties and uses of uranium is introduced, and thenthe global current situations of uranium resources and the main features of theuranium resourtces in China is analyzed. It is discovered that there is a great demandfor uranium in our country based on market prediction. Uuranium resources must beexploited and utilized and thus the study on the sustainable development of uraniummining is elaborated.Nowadays, the sustainable development of uranium mining has met withdifficulties due to restricted geological conditions, outdated mining operationmodel, lack of scientific management, damage to the ecological circumstances andshortage of talents. The specific problems in the development of uranium mining isanalyzed in great detail. Based on the statistics provided by the Internationl AtomicEnergy Agency and the energy agency in China, the demand for uranium in twentyyears is predicted. What is also analyzed in this paper is the the strategiesin sustainable development in uranium mining, such as the enhancement of uraniumgeological prospecting, the building of uranium mining circulatory economy, theadopting of the idea of safety in uranium mining and the speeding up of legislationon protecting regenarative resources.A better understanding of the uranium mining in China will be achieved basedon this paper, which is of some theoretical and practical importance in promoting thesustainable development of uranium mining. The originality of the strategies presentedin this paper will be of some value to the the exploration, utilization, planning andpolicy making of uranium mining in our country.
