As the fast development of communication technology, the current optical transmission network and network optimization become more and more complicated, and transmission interruption influences operation more and more seriously. As for SDH running for years, because of the irrational dilatation for early part of the project, irregularity of layout data in maintenance, and suitable routes without consideration for emergency, the data is in disorder in network with low slot utilization, network quality and safety reduced.The projects of optical transmission optimization is different from others because it relies more on brainwork, and needs cutting over by experienced professional engineers, and managing systematically by managers with fine professional knowledge. The vast alteration of data can surely influence current network, and severe error of data configuration will cause disastrous consequence. The project of optical transmission optimization is of high risk, and it is significant for us to recognize, evaluate, deal with, and control the risk for successful operation.Basing on current research on risk management of communication project, the author in this essay presents detailed risk-management solutions for project of optical transmission optimization in Xinjing by combining of current situation of with transmission network optimization project, with integration of knowledge from relating literature and risk management, together with years of experiences in transmission construction and project management. Through effective risk management, the project is finally completed with quality, progress, and cost controlled.The successful application of risk management can offer reference data and management experience for risk management of later communication projects, and is also significant in theory and practice for risk management in similar projects.
