With progress of China’s urbanization speeding up, and construction land use in city development is expanding rapidly, the situation of extensive exploitation of urban land is serious in China, which aggravates the contradiction between man and the land。In order to alleviate the conflict between man and land, China’s economic growth mode must be changed from extensive to intensive. whether from the points of view of the urban development and rational use of land or from the change in the pattern of economic growth, Study of urban land intensive use of existing problems and solutions are very necessary.In this paper,on the base of the advanced theories, research methods and research result from home and abroad, summarized the connotation of the intensive use of land, and analyze the factors affecting urban land intensive use. take Urban area of Wuhan City (Jiangan District, Jianghan District, Qiaokou District, Hanyang District, Wuchang District, Hongshan District and Qingshan District) as the study area. On the basis of the reference and summary of research results at home and abroad, Selected14indicators form the following five respect:the inputs and outputs of the land, use intensity, situation of consist and trend of Dynamic to build the concept-level evaluation system of intensive land use, And using entropy method to calculate the weights of the target, using the multi-objective comprehensive evaluation to comprehensive evaluate the level of urban land use in Wuhan city from2000to2009, The conclusions derived the intensive use of land levels showed an increasing trend in Urban area of Wuhan City from2000to2009.
