Economist about growth theory think that developed countriesrely on investment to maintain its growth, and developing countriesaccelerate its growth through industrialization, and the final goal of theeconomic growth is to pursuit GDP growth. However, this kind of purepursuit of GDP growth faces new challenges and serious problems,whichare environmental pollution, resource depletion, excessive populatedcities and the decline in quality of life and so on.Then a few economistpay attention to these problems and question the mode of economicgrowth.30years of reform and opening up,the economic of China havemany problems except rapid growth,and the significant one is how toimprove the quality of ecnomic growth and keep the economic sustainedand stable development. Gansu Province as our country westernunderdeveloped region,the only way to narrow the gap with developedregions of china in gross is keeping the sustained economic growth.butbesides the pursuit of rapid economic growth rate, Gansu Province musthave a higher quality of economic growth to ensure the long-termdevelopment of economy.At the same time, Gansu Province Economic and social development in the Twelfth Five Year Plan proposed that the province of Gansu mustmake efforts to promote the economy to span type development.Toachieve the requirements ahout faster and better development,coordinated development, innovation development and harmoniousdevelopment.what’s more,the development of Gansu province mustestablish the overall target on economic development, structuraloptimization, resource environment, social development, reform andopening up and people’s living. The change of the economic growth modehas been put on the agenda and the change of the economic growth fromthe growth of "quantity" to the "quality" has become the the main task in"Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period in Gansu province.This paper is on the basis of the research of others,and try to definethe connotation of economic growth quality reasonably and establishindex evaluation system on economic growth quality and compare the theeconomic growth of Gansu province to national level in every respect.Theaim of those work is to find the problems which existed in the economicgrowth of Gansu province.Then I use the methods of factor analysis andcluster analysis on14cities economic growth quality in Gansu provinceto find out the fators which restricted the increasing of economic growthquality of Gansu province. Finally, according to the results of empiricalresearch and the actual situation of Gansu Province, this paper come tothe reason why the Gansu province economic growth quality is not high,and puts forward a series of suggestions on improving the economicgrowth quality of Gansu province.
