Pengzhou is located in the Northwest edge of the Chengdu Plain.Landforms ofthis area include mountains, hills and plains, and its terrain is high in the northwestand lower in the southeast. In recent years, urbanization and industrialization ofPengzhou increased rapidly, especially since the Wenchuan earthquake in2008, rateof this process increased significantly. The increase in construction land caused areduction of agricultural land and other land uses, types of land use in this areachanged accordingly.Firstly this article analyzed the current Land Use, summed up the characteristicsof land use and identified the main problems in the process of land use. Secondly thisarticle analyzed the temporal and spatial changes of the area, structure, degree of landuse, rate of land use change, land-use ratio and Land reclamation rate of from1999to2010. Thirdly principal component analysis were used to analyze the driving forces.finally, the methods of principal component analysis and correlation analysis werecombined to analyze the the driving forces that caused changes in farmland andconstruction land. The main results achieved in this article are as follows:(1) Current situations of land use of Pengzhou in2010, farmland occupied thebiggest share, accounting for82.89%of the total land area, and Construction landaccounted for11.89%. Unused land, due to the difficulty in exploitation, occupied thesmallest share.(2) From1999to2010, for the changes of area of different land use types, changes of farmland is the biggest, reducing4658.67hm2totally. Construction landexhibited the biggest change amplitude, its change amplitude was37.95%. (3) For the spatial and temporal changes of land use structure, from1999to2010, during the three major land use types, farmland showed a general decreasingtrend in most towns, especially for Longmen Mountain town, Tianpeng town, Mengyang town, Longfeng town and Zhihe town. Construction land showed a generalincreasing trend in most towns, especially for Lichun town, Tianpeng town, Mengyang town, Longfeng town, Danjing mountian town and Zhihe town. Areas of unusedland of15out of the20towns of Pengzhou was decreaing.(4) For theteporal changes of land use, from1999to2010, the land use changerate of Pengzhou is-0.0155. In the view of the rate of change of land use is relativelyslow from1999to2010, the change rate is0.47%per year. According the single landuse dynamical rate, other construction land showed a biggest change rate, its valuewas4.22%per year. Fluctuations of land use change was small, land use is relativelystable, land-use ratio decreased0.1%from1999to2001. From2001to2010,land-use ratio increased from94.87%to95.08%. Land reclamation rate showed ageneral decreasing trend, and its value decreased from38.26%in1999to35.14%in2010.(5) Land use diversity index of Pengzhou increased gradually before theearthquake, achieved the biggest value in2008,and its value is1.4061.After theearthquake, land use diversity index began to decrease, landscape structure tended tobecome more reasonable. Land use evenness index was gradually growing, and landdominance index increased significantly in2008, the highest value was2.3603, butdecreased significantly in2009.(6) Principal component analysis were used to analyzed the impact ofsocio-economic factors on the land use change of Pengzhou, results showed thateconomic development, urbanization, adjustment of agricultural structure were themajor driving forces.
