With China joining into WTO, foreign financial institutions have accessed to our financial market, thus the competition would become more and more intense. The business environment of domestic commercial banks has undergone great changes; there will be a greater challenge and higher requirements to the ability of respond to market risk. Large enterprises preferring foreign banks, the global sub-prime crisis, upgrading the industrial structure and other factors forced the commercial banks facing sustainable development. Foreign theoretical studies have shown that most successful commercial banks have a excellent corporate culture. Corporate culture can enhance internal cohesion as long as establishing a good brand image in the society, which will strengthen the core competitiveness of commercial banks to ensure sustained and healthy development. In recent years, with the concept of corporate culture in the popularity of domestic commercial banks, managers have generally accepted the importance of cultural management, and gradually attempted to carry out the practice of enterprise culture. This research analyze the relationship between corporate culture and corporate growth of commercial banks though surveying the corporate culture characteristics of commercial banks, which can reveal the status of corporate culture of commercial banks in China, and then give some advice to the culture construction of commercial banks in the future.This research is divided into three parts:The first part is Theory. First, introduce the theory of corporate culture at home and abroad on the basis of literature organized, including the meaning, characteristics, structure and function of corporate culture, development and the measure of corporate culture; second, introduced the theory of corporate growth, including the content of business growth and research for it; Finally, sort out the research for relationship between corporate culture and corporate growth, combined with study into characteristics of corporate culture of commercial banks in China, which is ready for next steps of this survey.The second part is empirical research. This part Includes questionnaires and statistical analysis two blocks. First, based on the cultural characteristics of China’s commercial bank and related literature we design measurement scale of corporate culture of commercial banks; in the respect of measuring the growth of commercial banks, we choose nine indicators designed to reflect the business performance, market competition, risk prevention and control capability, service and innovation and the ability of organization coordination, as a subjective measure of business growth; after the formal questionnaire was done, we use factor analysis and variance analysis to evaluate the culture characteristics of commercial banks and factors affecting them. Base on the above analysis we construct regression model to research the relationship between corporate culture and business growth, from the analysis result we find out the key culture factors which influent the growth of commercial banks, combined with the problems in construction of corporate culture, we give some advice to the culture construction of commercial banks in the future.The third part is about the conclusions and outlook, which point out the weakness in this research and future research directions.From conclusions of the empirical analysis, we found that values, teamwork and risk management of banks has a great effect in promoting the overall development of commercial banks. The staffs in banks also give a high priority in the risk management; In addition, customers, employee-oriented and corporate governance of banks have significant effects on profitability, risk control ability and creative ability. But there is still some problems in the construction of banks’ corporate culture:First, reform and innovation efforts and attention to employees is not enough, which has not reached the expectations of employees; Second, the lack of effective inter-organization communication resulted in that different levels of employees has different understand to the corporate culture, corporate culture has not formed a joint force; In generally, the effects of some aspects of corporate culture has not yet appeared, the overall impact of corporate culture is not enough. With the conclusions from empirical analysis, this article provides some reference suggestions from institution-building, human development, and environment creating three aspects in order to give a hand to the corporate culture construction of commercial banks in future development.
