Because of the special nature environment, history, religion, society, etc., thesocial and economic in Tibetan areas is relatively backward. As the most potentialindustry in Tibetan areas, tourism is becoming a new engine and breakthrough toachieve the coordinated development of economy, culture and society. With the arrivalof the period of experiential tourism, tourists who tend to pursue different culturalexperience, return to nature and relax themselves are more and more. Under thisbackground, the social space structure of Tibetan tourist towns is experiencing serieschanges continuously. From the micro perspective of tourist gaze demands, this paperexplores and researches the issue that tourist gaze demands how to act on the macroenvironment of social space by influencing the behaviors of tourist hosts and guests,analyzes all sorts of questions for social space evolution rationally, tries to find asuitable model or approach which could guide the tourism in Tibetan areas to develophealthily, sustainably and effectively.In the case of Langmusi town of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, thispaper studies the social space structure paradigms and methods at home and abroad,chooses methods that combine the anthropology, sociology and geography, and carriesout researches applying the literature method, comprehensive analysis, comparativestudy and fieldwork. The paper focuses on the analysis of “three types of demands”(tourism worship demands, tourism visit demands and tourism consumption demands)and “three-layer spaces”(religious space, residential space and commercial space).Based on the above, the paper probes comprehensively that how the tourist gazedemands effect on the social space structure by analyzing the psychology andbehavior of monks, residents, businessmen and tourists. And then it discusses someissues for tourism sustained development in Langmusi town according to relatedcontents on tourist gaze demands and social space structure, and reflects on Tibetantourism development.This paper is mainly divided three parts to discuss.The first part is the introduction, which consists of Chapter1and2. Chapter1analyzes the research background, the significance, the main content, and the methodsof this research. Chapter2sums up the related theoretical studies at home and abroad.The second part includes four chapters, which is the core part of this paper.Chapter3analyzes the connotation of the social space structure of Langmusi town and the influence mechanism of tourist gaze demands on social space structure indetail. Then the paper discusses respectively the relationships between the tourismworship demands and the evolution of religious space structure, the tourism visitdemands and the evolution of residential space structure and the tourism consumptiondemand and the evolution of commercial spatial structure.The third section includes chapter7and chapter8. Chapter7discusses someissues for tourism sustained development in Langmusi town, and then it raises somequestions like that the tourism in ethnic areas should be in full accordance withmarket demands or not; tourism development is ought to think about the originalsocial relationships or not; the way to establish tourism evaluation index forsustainable development and so on. Chapter8summarizes the main results andconclusions of this study, and points the research direction for future study.
