Information sharing is the foundation of modern SCM(supply chainmanagement), while inventory management is the key content of SCM,how to make full use of information sharing to increase SCM efficiencyis a topic people are keeping researching, D is a benchmark enterprise ofmodern SCM, the method measuring inventory by daily sales wasexecuted for years and now is forming a set of supply chain informationsharing based inventory management methodology. The core of Dcompany’s inventory management is engaging his suppliers decidinginventory level base on D company’s forecast, this is a totally customerrequirement oriented inventory management strategy with supply chaincoordination.To promote D company’s best practice in the industry, the paperintroduced D company’s DSI (Daily Sales Inventory) method and the bestpractice of measuring supply performance by STBL (Shortage to backlog)days, and we found a problem that the decision foundation is not sufficient when D company makes DSI strategy decision. Base onmass investigation and research, we invented a decision support model tosolve the problem how D company decide strategic DSI level for certainSTBL target, by application checking in a real case, the model wasproved successful. The DSI-STBL strategy decision model canquantitatively simulate the STBL result which is influenced by kinds ofplan behavior, and has strong extensible capability and broad commercialapplication prospect.
