China’s2011full year iron ore imports of686million tons, compared with2010increased by10.9%year-on-year. Into the "12th Five-Year", the iron and steel industry has ushered in the transformation of the opportunity, obviously, the higher value-added development path in line with the long-term development of the steel industry trend. The Ministry of growth of steel consumption in2012is expected to decline slightly, but imports are expected to increase to730million tons, China’s steel demand there is still some space for growth, the amount of iron ore imports also has great potential for growth. Port iron ore handling capacity of671million tons in2011, an increase of only4%, so many domestic ports there are still a large iron ore loading and unloading capacity gap. In this context, the Yantai Port iron ore wharf giant great development potential, the research competitiveness level is of great significance.Yantai Port iron ore terminal competitiveness as the main research object theory as a basis for a large number of documents, the application of a combination of qualitative and quantitative method, starting from the production and operation of the iron ore terminal angle, analysis the impact of competition in the iron ore terminal force factor effectively, evaluation Yantai Port iron ore terminal competitiveness index system, in order to properly understand and compare the Yantai Port iron ore terminal development in the Bohai Sea region and the Yangtze River Delta region and the major ports of the Southand horizontal at the same time to evaluate the competitiveness of domestic Dalian Port, Qingdao Port, Tianjin Port, Yingkou Port, Tangshan Port, Rizhao Port, Qinhuangdao Port, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Taicang Port, Zhanjiang Port, Fangcheng Port iron ore terminal. Article take multivariate analysis based on statistical methods for dimension reduction techniques-factor analysis, Yantai Port iron ore terminal competitiveness comprehensive evaluation index to simplify dimensionality reduction. Concluded that the level of development of Yantai Port iron ore wharf and made recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of Yantai Port iron ore wharf.
