Clothing fair is the professional textile and clothing trade show held periodically on somearea, which sets up a trade platform for exhibitors and buyers from home and abroad. It not onlypromotes the economic growth of the host city, but also publicizes the ethnic and culturalidentity of the city. Paris clothing fairs are the most famous fairs in the world. Many types ofclothing fairs are held in Paris every year and each of them has its own specialty. Prêt a PorterParis is the typical one which is held twice a year. It is not only a platform for exhibiters andbuyers to reach trade agreement, but also to prophet the fashion trend for the next season. Itattracts exhibiters and buyers from all over the world. Prêt a Porter Paris is characterized byhigh degree of internationalization, scientific management, fine classification and culturalcreativity. China’s clothing fair industry started from1990. China International Clothing﹠Accessories Fair(CHIC), which is held once a year in Beijing, is the most popular fair in Chinaand has made great progress in recent years. But compared with Paris’s clothing fairs, CHICstill has some weak points.Based on a comprehensive study on the history of clothing fairs in Paris and on anquestionnaire investigation made during CHIC2012, this paper means to make a comparativebetween Prêt a Porter Paris and CHIC so as to learn from Paris to speed up Beijing’sconstruction as a world fashion capital. The conclusion delete is as follows: CHIC has alreadyreached an advanced level in hardware facilities, but is still weak in management and culturalcreativity. If CHIC wants to catch up with Paris, it must improve its level in professionalmanagement and culture creativity. Only when CHIC is full of its specialty, could it attractexhibiters and buyers from all over the globe and become one of the best fairs in the world.
