Research On The Development Of Co-operatives And Cooperation Groups In The Build-up Of New Rural Area In Vietnam

Agricultural co-operatives and cooperation groups in Vietnam have been established since Vietnam’s land reform in1954. In the past60years, in each period of time, they have had different characteristics. In the current context of globalization, the policy on rural area development has been set up by Vietnam government in consistent with the evolution of new era. Rural issues, the establishment of the new rural development, the roles of agricultural co-operatives and cooperation groups in the process of new rural development and how to boost the increase of the co-operative economy are the matters that have received the interest of economists, social specialists.The thesis concludes the literature reviews on the co-operatives, cooperation groups in the build-up of new rural areas, the analyzation of the current development of the co-operatives, cooperation groups in rural areas and their achievements in the development of the new rural area in Vietnam. The research on the function of co-operatives, cooperation groups in the build-up of Vietnam’s new rural area showed that in recent years, they have played more and more important role in this process. The research also expresses their strength and weakness. By analysing the causes, the recommendations and solutions on how to strengthen the effectiveness of co-operatives and cooperation groups in the process of new rural development have been given.Through survey and analysis, the thesis re-affirms that although co-operatives, cooperation groups in Vietnam have operated and changed in the new era for a certain period of time, their roles have not been heightened. In recent years, they have played important roles and developed step by step due to the fact that they get special attention from the whole society.In the past, the scope of co-operatives, cooperation groups was small and they faced a lot of difficulties especially in terms of capital. However, the Party and the State has timely launched out direction and policies. Based on that the local authorities set out decisions to satisfy the need of local people and control the operations of co-operatives and cooperation groups. As a result, the co-operatives and cooperation groups movement has made great achievements. Besides, the thesis also points out some difficulties that co-operatives and cooperation groups are facing. By analyzing the causes, the recommended solutions in increasing the efficiency of co-operatives and cooperation groups’s activities in the process of build-up of new rural area in Vietnam are given.
