All the activities of human producing and living are based on the land, which is the foundation of the development in the cities. Because of the sustained rapid growth of the national economy and the acceleration of urbanization in China, the demand for the urban land is increasing; at the same time, the superiority of cities makes more and more people settle down the cities, which increases the carrying capacity of the urban land, thus leading to a series of problems such as the higher house prices. However, the difference of income makes the families of middle and low income difficult to "live and work happily" in the cities.At present, intensifying efforts to the construction of the urban affordable houses is of the important and practical significance for improving the livelihood of the people、increasing investment、expanding consumption and promoting the development of the national economy better and faster. Therefore, the government should speed up the construction of the urban affordable houses and expand their supply, helping the families of middle and low income solve their housing problems. However, the urban land supply is the basis and premise of the construction and supply of the urban affordable houses. So, according to a large population with relatively little available land in our country, the government should play an important role in reasonably planning and controlling of the urban land supply, making sure that the construction land of the economical and applicable houses、the low-rent houses and the public rental houses is supplied effectively, so as to give housing security to those families who have difficulty with houses and promote the harmonious development of the society.First of all, this paper introduces some concepts including housing security system、 affordable houses、urban land and urban land supply, then refers to land supply theory、land property rights theory、efficiency and fairness theory and Keynes theory of state intervention, finally uses the comparative and the system analysis methods to research. This paper defines the relationship between the construction of the urban affordable houses and the land supply, points out the mode of the urban affordable housing land supply and its existing problems, and then analyzes the total、prices、structure、location and time frame of the affordable housing land supply in Wuhan city, eventually puts forward the policy and measures to ensure the urban affordable housing land can supply reasonably and effectively.
