Companies’ profit margins were shrinking with growing competition in theconstruction industry. If they want to change this situation, the only way is to reduce thecost of enterprise products. Project is the product of the construction industry. In theproject cost, the proportion of the cost of construction materials will take up to60%ormore. So the most effective mean to reduce the cost of the project is to control thematerial cost. Almost all companies realize that and make much progress withcontinuous improvement of materials management model. But the materialsmanagement system is not adapted to the speed of the current socio-economicdevelopment. When corporate earnings reach a bottleneck, they need the newmanagement model and philosophy, and this means that the theories of modern logisticsand supply chain management model must be integrated into the materials management.At present, domestic construction enterprises rarely consider project material supplychain management model in project materials management. The reason is that buildingproducts are unlike manufactured goods. The application of Supply chain mode in theconstruction industry is later than that in manufacturing. Several materials supply chainsystems of large construction companies still need improvement. And for small andmedium-sized construction enterprises, their management pattern also isn’t matureenough.Firstly, the article summarizes the materials management situation at home andabroad, makes an analysis of the development trend of the materials management mode,and illustrates the composition of the construction materials supply chain managementmode combining the characteristics of building products. Secondly, the material supplychain model which has been used in the companies is introduced. The focus on costcontrol in the material supply chain of three models is different from each other. Each ofthem has advantages and disadvantages at the same time. Construction companies needto select the appropriate material supply chain according to their own businesscharacteristics and development of space. Early in the materials supply chainmanagement, the most important job is to choose the right material suppliers. Inprevious studies and the practical application,they use a variety of methods and modelsfor supplier selection, but these methods and models is not entirely suitable forconstruction enterprises. This article proposed to choose gray multi-level evaluation model to analyze and select material suppliers in construction enterprises. Finally, thecase of the materials branch of Chongqing Construction Engineering group Company isinterpreted to confirm the feasibility of the model in practical applications. AfterMaterials branch join in the construction company, the company rebuilt the materialsupply chain with this model. Not only the stability of the enterprise engineeringmaterials supply chain was increased, but also materials management level wasimproved with reducing the cost of business. It laid a good foundation for thedevelopment of the company.
