We are in an extremely rich material of modern society, consumption has become anindispensable part of our lives, but there are a lot of people blind pursuit of material comfort,vanity becomes more and more possessive of wealth so that consumer attitudes of the seriesof errors produced many negative effects on the development of our country. People inresearch on the consumer at the same time, started to pay attention and study a new type ofculture----the consumer culture. Study the changes of today’s society and social development,which includes an important part of that is consumer culture, it is not only a spiritual outlookof the present era, but also reflects the outward manifestation of the inner spirit. Therefore, wecarried out in-depth study of great significance.In this paper, the introduction of some well-known consumer culture theory to explainthe historical significance and limitations of its existence, consumer culture theory ofMarxism as a guide in the paper, first the background of the consumer, the significance ofdomestic and international research to analyze the situation. Then, elaborate on the meaningof consumption and consumer culture, and their respective attributes and characteristics, toprepare for the exposition of the later analysis of their relationship and social development; onthe basis of which we have some understanding of, and come back. Then start from the bootof Marx’s theory of consumer culture discourse, to compare consumer culture theory of Marxand Western scholars of consumer culture theory, and finally to draw lessons and to urgeeveryone to establish the concept of sustainable consumption for laying the groundwork. Thencombined with China’s actual situation, to talk about the issue of consumer culture in China,by reviewing the history of consumer culture in China, to identify problems that exist in thetraditional consumer culture, and social development, China’s consumer culture in whichpositive changes. Everything is not perfect, we must also find China consumer culture, whatare the problems, and there are reasons for these problems.Conclusion, the above described and analyzed, the proposed solution to the problem, andadvocate green consumption, promote foster sustainable consumption concept, and to avoidwaste of resources and environmental pollution. So that we can go to enjoy the fruits ofeconomic and social development since reform and opening.
