Rapid growth and economic development in china has caused great improvement withregard to the living standards of the populous. In recent years, there has also been a clearinflation in demand for high-end luxury goods and appliances as a result. For BBA, a largemultinational business whose main business speciality is the luxury automobile industry, thedevelopment of the market in China bears unprecedented opportunities and challenges.Demands for products are outrunning supply. As a manufacturing enterprise, company Aare implementing IE`s approach in order to alleviate this problem and meet demands of themarket. The main principle, in this IE approach, is to obtain the greatest return from minimal orzero investment. Through a meticulous research programme involving process analysis,function analysis, motion analysis, time study of operators in the plant, the author uses IE basedtheories to highlight existing problems and in depth analysis to improve site layout, reducingunnecessary waste of workers during operations, better balancing workload across work stationsand shortening working time. Therefore shortening overall function analysis and improve theyield of the plant through the presentation of constructive suggestions.All questions raised, problems and suggestions in this thesis fully reflect the practical andrealistic implementation in the manufacturing industry. This is done by in depth, thoroughprofiling of the IE tools and analysis, therefore showing the importance of using these IE toolsto optimize the production line. Hence demonstrating the extremely important role IE has toplay in the manufacturing industry.
