The Current Situation Of Dairy Industry In Hohhot Area

Hohhot is one of the best areas that are suitable for raising cows in the world. The cows in this area are stronger and produce more milk than the cows in.other areas; this is mainly because of the special natural conditions of Hohhot. This paper tries to identify the reasons that hurdle the development of dairy industry in Hohhot through interviewing and analyzing historical literatures on the development of Hohhot dairy industry and it also provides solutions for solving the problems. The results of this paper are as follows:The current conditions of dairy industry in Hohhot:the livestock on hand for cows is700000in2011; the milk production is3070000tons and there are14newly constructed cows’farms; the number of farms that can accommodate hundreds to ten. thousands cows is359, and that can contain hundreds to thousands cows is271, that can contain thousands to ten thousands cows is84and that can hold millions of cows is4; about50%cow farms meet the requirements of large-scale breeding; the cow farms in Hohhot are mainly in Turned Left Banner, Saihan District, Helingeer, and Togtoh and the number of livestock in these four areas is661thousands, which account for93.7%of the total livestock.There are seven factors that impede the development of the dairy industry in Hohhot. Firstly, the problems of food safety that arouses from the rapidly growing of dairy industry; secondly, the influences of lacking of forage, simplex supplying as well as the low utilization ratio; thirdly, the dairy farmers are lack of confidence because that the cost of milk production is increasing and the profitability of livestock breeding is shrinking; fourthly, the milk stations are lack of standardization and it is hard to monitoring, fifthly, the problems of diseases result from milk products limit the development of dairy industry; sixthly, the quality of breeding and management is quite low; lastly, the support from governments is still not enough.The solutions for solving the previous mentioned problems in diary industry are:first, change the high growing condition and move towards a more stabilized industry; second, increase the total cultivate area and change the structure of forage and at the same time, improve the utilization rate; third, reduce the cost of milk production and help the farmers to build confidence, fourth, standardize the milk collection stations and improve the quality of raw milk, moreover, protect the interest of farmers; fifth, optimize the animal epidemic prevention system and social service system; sixth, increase the investment in building milk bases and raise the management level of feeding; seventh, the government should change the relevant regulations and provide more support for dairy farmers.
