Project management, which is particularly suitable for one-time task management with broader responsibilities, complex relationship, time-constrained, limited resources, is widely used in construction, aviation, aerospace, defense, electronics, manufacturing, communications, financial industry and etc. As one of the leading industry to spur economic growth and social progress in China, project management plays a key role of effective cost control and rational resources use in automotive development process and manufacturing process. With the development of the global economic and trade integration, automobile manufacturer constrained the main production and sales only in individual countries, has become a thing of the past. In the increasingly fierce international competition of the market, to lower production costs, shorten the circulation, speed up the time to market must optimize the supply chain, the implementation of resource sharing, considering factors such as price, quality, delivery and efficiency. And to select suppliers worldwide to form a global sourcing matching system, has become a choice of each OEMs, which also resulted in that, each component supplier will face the increasing low-cost, high-quality, short-cycle, the pressure of the excellent service, and continuous investment in research and development of new models. At the same time, OEMs invest more and more new vehicles constantly and a higher demand of project development management has come up to component suppliers.Firstly, this article does research on principles, methods, the role and significance of a project management, including the elements and characteristics of a successful project needs. Principles, methods and content were discussed, which focused on the project progress control, project quality control, project cost control and project risk control. And recommend a variety of methods of project management by using SWOT, PDCA, WBS, critical path method, fish bone diagram to be able to achieve better results in project management.Secondly, the YF company project management process is described, and analyzed on this basis the YF current project management process, quality, cost, schedule, risk control. Then by using the project management knowledge, proposed the optimization solution targeted to project management processes in YF.Finally, as a verification of the above studies, instance a project in YF Company by running and evaluation of results, to illustrate the practical value of the project management process optimization, and to illustrate the correctness and validity of the author’s standpoint.
